7 Reasons Your Memory Is Bad
7 Reasons Your Memory Is Bad.
You forgot your car keys at home (for the umpteenth
time!), you could barely remember what you had for
dinner the other night, and you missed your doctor’s
appointment (again!). Does this sound like a familiar
story to you? If this is how things go almost every
single day, then you must be wondering why this is
so when you’re barely in your 40s!
Contrary to what
some people think, poor memory does not always
occur during old age. In fact, you’ll be surprised to
know that some kids tend to be forgetful at times,
and this is certainly not to be taken lightly. So,
whether you’re 16 or 60, and you struggle with
memory decline, it’s best to know common reasons
your memory is bad – and do something to prevent
things from getting worse.
The following are some of the typical causes of poor
memory among individuals, which may also lead to
reduced cognitive functions.
1. Depression
When people are depressed, it may be difficult for
them to concentrate and recall things because of
their preoccupation with their negative feelings.
Unfortunately, no one is exempted from depression,
and this can occur even to young children who are
frequently exposed to stressful situations. Several
instances that can cause people to be depressed
include the death of a loved one, lack of appreciation
from family members, and a few other reasons.
Negative emotions including anger, fear and anxiety
can also add to one’s forgetfulness and inability to
concentrate. No matter how hard they try,
concentrating and remembering things can be a
major challenge because of their fixation with
negative emotions and painful situations in their life.
2. Mental Confusion
Most people get into the habit of multitasking with
the hopes of getting things done as quickly as
possible. While this may seem as an exciting and
challenging activity for some, it can eventually lead
to mental confusion and stress. The moment their
mind is overloaded with things to do, it’s possible for
them to just lose it and experience mental
confusion. With a confused mind, poor memory may
arise and the only thing to resolve this is by learning
to focus on one thing at a time. Keep in mind that
your brain can only handle so much, which means
exposure to more ideas can lead to mental pollution.
Once this occurs, memory decline may follow
because of mental stress.
3. Inability to Express One’s True Emotions
There are individuals who have trained themselves
to hide their true feelings out of fear, shame or
pride. They tend to neglect the emotional aspect of
their life, so they are no longer in touch with their
feelings and thoughts. Although this practice helps
people perform well in their jobs or studies even
when their life is in shambles, this may be causing
serious drawbacks to their memory. The brain is
made up of two parts – the left and the right. The
left portion of the brain governs the logic while the
right facilitates artistic and emotional functions.
When one uses both sides of the brain regularly,
they are able to obtain a sense of balance in the way
they think. This goes without saying that a strong
and powerful memory is synonymous with
strengthening both hemispheres of the brain.
Hence, it is ideal to develop not only your logic, but
you should also work on improving your creative
side. By doing so, you can become a well-rounded
person with superb cognitive function.
4. Drug Abuse
Certain drugs are called illegal or illicit for one
obvious reason – because they do not serve any
function to improving or supporting your excellent
health. Unfortunately, there are individuals who get
hooked on these drugs after a few tries or
experimentation. Once their body has become
accustomed to these substances, losing the habit
can be a major challenge. Aside from serious
physical and psychological issues, drug abuse and
addiction can lead to memory decline as these
substances affect the hippo-campus or the part of
the brain in charge with cognitive functions. As a
result, poor memory occurs and worsens unless
addressed properly (along with overcoming
addiction).
5. Excessive Alcohol Intake
Based on scientific research, too much consumption
of alcohol can lead to numerous health issues and
mental problems including damages to your
retrospective memory. This is responsible for
learning and recovery of memories, which prevents
you from becoming forgetful. However, alcohol
consumption and addiction can lead to periods of
blackouts or temporary loss of memory. When the
habit of drinking continues, parts of the brain
receive less supply of oxygen, specifically areas that
contain alcohol. Over time, this condition can cause
negative effects on the entire central nervous
system.
Thiamine is an essential nutrient that is necessary
for metabolizing food and converting it into energy.
In addition, this B-vitamin is responsible for
ensuring the normal functions of your nervous
system. According to experts, large amounts of this
vitamin is located in your brain, which maintains the
production of neurotransmitters that impact your
mood, memory, movement and thought. For those
who receive insufficient amount of thiamine from
their diet, they are likely to suffer from Wernicke-
Korsakoff syndrome, which is a type of neurological
disorder that leads to short-term and long-term
memory loss. To prevent this condition, it is
important for people to receive the right amounts of
thiamine, which is a maximum of 1.2 mg for adults.
7. Lack of Sleep
Sleep helps refresh your body and mind while
enabling any necessary repairs of worn out cells and
tissues. In addition, brain waves are created as you
sleep, and these are responsible in storing memories
to your brain. These brain waves also transfer
memories to the prefrontal cortex, which is the
section of your brain that stores long-term
memories.
When you lack enough sleep, memories
are unable to move toward the frontal cortex, and
this leads to forgetfulness and short-term memory
loss. Thus, adults should aim to get at least 7 to 8
hours of sleep to improve their memory and prevent
any deterioration of their frontal lobe that can result
to cognitive decline.
Having a good memory can significantly impact your
performance level. Thus, it’s only right to start
enhancing your memory by avoiding these factors
that can make you more forgetful and function less
efficiently.

Lonely Planet reveals 'the world's greatest man-made and natural wonders
THE TERRACOTTA ARMY.
The Terracotta Army, in China was also included in the guide. The collection of terracotta sculptures depict the armies of the first Emperor of China, and were only recently rediscovered in 1974. There are more than 8,000 soldiers, 130 chariots and 670 horses from this vast, life-size clay army, protecting the Emperor in his afterlife.
Lonely Planet have mentioned the Great Wall of China in their guide. With parts of the wall being built as early as 7BC, it's incredible that some of the 13-mile-long structure still stands strong today.
This marble-clad mausoleum, often considered the most beautiful building in the world and said by its creator to have "made the sun and moon shed tears", is the biggest tourist attraction in India. Lonely Planet have included the structure in their list of the best man-made sites in the world.
According to the Lonely Planet guide, Northern Ireland's Giant's Causeway is one of the must-see wonders of the world. The attraction is made up of 40,000 interlocking columns resulting from a volcanic eruption. The tops of the columns form stepping stones that lead from the cliff foot and disappear under the sea. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986, and a National Nature Reserve in 1987.
Lonely Planet have described the Great Rift Valley, Kenya, as one of the best natural wonders. The world’s largest rift system stretches 6000km from the red sea down to Lake Malawi.
At 610m deep and 260 sq km, the Ngorongoro Crater, in Tanzania, is the largest un-flooded caldera in the world. A blue-green vision from above, it’s a haven for endangered wildlife and Maasai livestock.
Kilauea, Hawaii, was named one of the most beautiful natural structures. The world’s most active volcano has been constantly erupting for over three decades, creating the fastest-growing land on the planet.
The stunning Hagia Sophia, in Turkey, was also included in Lonely Planet's list. The Hagia Sophia (Aya Sofya) has withstood the ravages of war and earthquakes, a testament to Istanbul’s tumultuous past.
Luminous green fingers of light dance their way across the star-studded sky – the Aurora Borealis, (Northern Lights) is a mesmerising light show like no other in the world.
According to Lonely Planet, Angkor Wat, in Cambodia, is one of the most inspired and spectacular monuments ever conceived. The temple at the heart of a vast city took 300,000 dedicated workers, along with 6,000 elephants, 35 years to build.
The Greeks considered the Great Pyramids to be one of the Seven Wonders of the World. They are Egypt's most visited monuments, and among the world's greatest tourist attraction. This extraordinary structure were built 4500 years ago to house King Khufu’s burial chamber.
Hewn from the sandstone ranges on the edge of the Arabian desert, the vast, 2000-year-old, rose-red city was once the hub of a network of trade routes between Asia and the Mediterranean.
The Easter island statues in Polynesia were mentioned in the book. The collection of enigmatic statues – each weighing 13 tonnes and over 10m tall, were moved without the aid of wheels or animals. Yet these iconic figures were blamed for the virtual collapse of Easter island's civilization.
Mount Roraima, one of the most famous of the Tapui mountains, marks the border of Guyana, Venezuela and Brazil. On this flat-topped mountain cut off from civilisation, prehistoric castaways have evolved into unique species found nowhere else on the planet.
The mysterious city of Machu Picchu, in Peru, clings to a remote ridge high in the Andes. It was built, lived in and deserted in less than 100 years – then lost to civilisation for centuries.
The Grand Canyon, USA, is one of the biggest attractions in America,
standing at 1.6km deep and 29km wide in places. Its sheer enormity makes
it one of the most impressive gorges in the world.
Russia is home to the oldest and deepest freshwater lake on the planet -
Lake Baikal. This magnificent lake is nicknamed the ‘Galapagos of
Russia’ because of the unique species that lurk in its depths.
The Dead Sea lies between Israel and Jordan, and in the last decades it
has considerably shrunken because of excessive industrial use, mainly by
mineral-production factories. It is the lowest point on earth and over
seven times saltier than any ocean. This landlocked sea draws crowds who
lather on healing mud and bob on the surface like corks.
The Acropolis, in Greece, is also on the list. This complex of temples
and altars, adorned with statues of mortal and immortal greats, was once
the beating heart of ancient Greece.

The Power Of The Internet.
The Power Of The Internet.
I reach out to you from the keys and screen on my table, i try so hard
to tap into the love and friendship inside the confines of your
imaginary soul through the connections of wires and cables.
Though
your heart and soul is far away, seas, rivers, mountains, valley,
forest, desert, language and culture all put between us a stupendous and
eternal gap but the web cuts through all of these barriers to link our
hearts like we were just some breathe away from each other.
My
body yarns in vain to touch and feel the humanness you possess, my eyes
wonder for what seem like forever to behold you in total fullness and
sometimes i ask if reality was somewhere near. As all this frustration
lingers, my spirit and soul surreptitiously sneak into your world
through a sweet, sublime and beautiful imagination. This imagination
transcends all cables, wires and web connection; it carries the super
power to invade the scared order of every human limitations and
contemplation.
In anonymity you exist but in reality we persist, we try with every opportunity that comes our way to keep the touch and spark alive. Sometimes our minds play tricks on us; it succeeds in getting us lost in a cloud of illusions and dreams. Like a child we smile at the sight of a mirage. Thanks to the W.W.W, glory is to the small deity called the internet. With no hesitation it made the path of souls and hearts that would have wallowed in an air of oblivion and obscurity to cross like they were made for each other ever since.
Though
we live in a world that celebrates mortality in its totality, but the
power of the internet breathes in us a subtle and stable immortality, an
immortality adorned with some pinch of divinity. I bless the day, this
sweet discovery was made.
Man has suddenly become
supernatural at the touch of every keys, like a bird emotions and
expressions are high up in the sky where no eyes can reach. The internet
has bridge the gap history, culture, religion, ideology, race, and
environment put between us all.
Now you know me more than the man
i see every day, my mentality is not as complicated as they claim it
is. You judge me not by how i look; rather you embrace me for what i
stand for and that thing that really defines my true personality. The
internet is like a window, it allows in the rays of hope and glory, you
see the wider world from just some inches of screen right in front of
you.

The Greatest Gift
The Greatest Gift.
If not for the stupendous mercy and compassion the one who has it have towards mankind, none of us is qualified to have it, let alone control it. What a gift to have, so mysterious but beautiful, the richest and wealthiest can not afford it, the mightiest in the land can not capture it, it is given free with no strings attached... This gift transcends the physical, because it operates from the spiritual, it carries a rare force that no one has got a clue of how it works.. Ask a very sick man he will tell you, ask a man who is about to breathe his last breath and he will make you begin to appreciate and not take for granted this immortal gift...
The beauty behind this gift is, it knows no race, culture, religion, belief or history, it is available to all in equal quantity and measure, no one controls it. To me this is far the greatest gift that man has and will ever receive.. What is life without it, just like what is a loaf without yeast or what is a car without an engine, wealth becomes useless without it, power becomes null and void without it, love has no purpose without it, man is nothing but a log of wood without it...
We all need to start appreciating life for this uniqueness it carries, though this gift is free but it is not everlasting, every mortal being must at one point or the other give back this gift , only the holy is crowned with that rare glory to get back this gift in abundance at the other side... Only the gentle, kind and meek at heart will have another opportunity to enjoy it..
A stone if given just a single dose of this gift turns to a soul, a thorn if given this gift becomes a hand of joy and laughter, the poor is rich and useful with this gift, if not for this gift of life, the whole earth would have been void and meaningless.

The Victory Song.
The Victory Song.
This is a new song; get me the trumpet let me blow out the sweet tunes from the core of my soul. Joy and happiness is all that stares at me right now. The battle has been won, the present may not know the magnitude of this victory, but posterity will come suddenly to bask in the euphoria of the after effect. The choir of the world cannot sing this song; only a joyful heart can feel the vibe and hear the subtle but real tune of this victory song.
The lips and tongue i beckon on you to come together as one; unite like the united nation, so that the whole nation can feel what is going on inside the heart of the victorious. Like a child with a new toy, my heart sings a new song, at the presence of victory. How the success came is really a tale for another day, it will be told by time, for now all we need do is to get up on our feet and dance to the victory song.
It has no pattern, just let your spirit take you there, don’t ask where, just follow like a helpless slave in captivity. Everywhere is covered in a thick but chilling fog, the atmosphere is jumping at the sound of this glorious tune, the trees are shaking, the leaves are moving side to side, even the birds are flapping and clapping their wings, who then are you not to catch this ever blazing and mind blowing feeling. Words can do no justice, let your feet and your soul do the talking, let them jump and leap for joy, like a happy frog.
The sad and lonely may not hear the song, they look on in total surprise, and they question our sanity every day because the reason for our dancing remains a mystery to them. They keep asking where the music is, and we tell them, search deep down into your souls and you will hear the victory song. It plays on in every heart that refuses to be brought down by the things around.
Listen to this song and your joy will live long, like a tall mahogany tree. Dj play on, let the beat hit my heart, slap the tune on me, serenade my spirit with this crazy feeling, this victory song is sweet and creamy, let’s all sing on.
