THE PATH TO SELF-DISCOVERY.
THE PATH TO SELF-DISCOVERY.
The greatest discovery you can ever make in life is to
discover “you”. Who you really are, what defines you and what niche of persona
or mentality you belong. To discover self is like having all the correct
answers to an examination question. The origin of confusion, misconception,
slavishness, low self-esteem, lack of enthusiasm, passion and vision is not knowing
the real you from deep within.
It is very important to know this and have it at the back of
your hand, if you fail to discover yourself before you are introduced into the
fast, crazy, carefree and selfish world/society, then they will make you believe
and accept what you are not. They just shape you into an object or piece that
suits their taste, belief, mentality, ideology and principle. So please get up
and embark on a beautiful journey of self-discovery. Let the truth unfold right
in front of you.
1.
The first step in self-discovery, is knowing
what makes you happy and fulfilled deep inside. That thing that you can do or do without pressure. It comes to you naturally without the help or influence ofanybody. Some call it talent, some call it a gift, but i call it a way of life. You must find it, groom it and brand it to its maximum potential. This helps to reduce and avert any form of confusion and lack of enthusiasm in life generally. With this discovery you are able to place a tag or identity on yourpersonality in totality.
2.
You must make friends with yourself, introduce
you to yourself, it sounds crazy but it is a very important step in the process
of self- discovery. Know who you are by relating with your personality, learn
to enjoy your own company, do some intra-personal communication quietly within
the confines of your mind. There no eyes or ears can know what is going on. Be
comfortable in your skin, appreciate, adore, respect and control yourself, but
don’t be caught worshiping yourself.
3.
Know your temperament and mood. Ask some
questions, i mean personal questions, like where do i belong, what is the
nature of my mood. Are you hot headed, cool headed, shy, quiet, spontaneous,
impulsive, or laid back. Just try to identify the character that best defines
you as an individual with no sentiments. You may not like it, "your temperament",
but know that you can work on it, influence it, and shape it to answer to you
in the best way you want it to. Your temperament is like the outer layer that
people get to meet before getting through to who you really are.
4.
Work on your knowledge base; make sure you widen
its scope and base. Feed and grow your mind with knowledge, always have
something inside that makes stand out. No information or knowledge is too small
to be ignored. Nurture your intellectual personality, give it every weapon of defense it needs. The society is very hostile, ready to cage you, control,
manipulate and make you see you from another side that most times is not true.
That is why information and knowledge helps in the course of self-discovery,
get highly informed, educated, be free to explore and task your mind, always
ask very crucial questions and live life with every sense of seriousness and
purpose.
5.
Build yourself a standard; develop a working
principle, ideology, mentality and expectation. Work on your self-esteem and
always never settle for what will comprise your set standard and principle it
helps in solidifying the act of knowing who you really are. They are like
armour or bullet proof that helps shield your mind from every form of societal
infiltration or invasion. Be the one to influence people, rather than always
being at the receiving end every time.
6.
Go out and meet people, have an open mind and
get ready to be faced with just anything. Associate with people, learn from
them, get to know how their minds work, get acquainted with what is happening
around you, don’t be rigid, be highly observant and pay attention to every
detail that comes your way. This is a phase where you present you to the world
or society; let them have a feel of who you are. This a test to confirm if
truly you have discovered yourself or you are still work in progress.
7.
Learn the act of sieving words, picking the
useful content and discarding the shaft. At this stage you must have built an
impervious mind. A mind that is not fragile and will not crack or fall at a
little push or temptation.
8.
Be creative; try to create your own style, fun,
joy, smiles, happiness, desire, passion, mind, enthusiasm, mentality, ideology,
principle, vision and goal. Build all these with your hands; let your own world
be real and beautiful, so that you don’t live in another man’s/woman’s world.
Build your brand, logo, trademark, identity and energy.
9.
Identify your weakness and strength, never should
another man or woman discover your strength and weakness before you do, it is
very dangerous and risky. We all have a weak side that is why we are mortals,
so the earlier you know them the better for your discovery.
10.
Seek the face of God; go to Him to show you the
truth about who you are. Ask for the assistance of the holy spirit.
