Couples Who Get Busy Twice A Week Earn More
Couples Who Get Busy Twice A Week Earn More..
The key to increasing your salary is apparently in your bedroom—or on top of the kitchen table, if that’s your thing. According to a new study published in the International Journal of Manpower, men and women who have sex twice a week earn 4.5 percent more than people whose sex lives have gone stale.
Researchers
from the U.K.’s Anglia Ruskin University surveyed 7,500 Greece
residents to find out what effect, if any, sexual activity has on wages.
They found “there is a monotonic relationship between the frequency of
sexual activity and wage returns,” according to Nick Drydakis, the
author of the study. Not only did more sexually active respondents earn
higher wages, men who’ve hit pause on their sex lives reported earning 1.3 percent less than men who clocked any amount of time between the sheets with their partners.
So,
what’s the deal? This study proves correlation, not causation—but it
makes sense that sex, which can also make you a healthier and happier
person, would help highlight your best characteristics to an employer,
who may then reward a positive office go-getter with a wage that
reflects his or her healthy attitude.
It’s
possible the reverse also applies: If you make more moolah, you’re
likely less stressed—and with less stress, you may find yourself more
desirous of sexy time with your significant other. As Drydakis wrote in
the study, “Physical and mental health, as well as personality
characteristics, are important factors that affect wages. The patterns
found in this study strengthen this reasoning.” Which way it works, we
don’t really know.
