THE NIGERIAN WOMAN

          THE NIGERIAN WOMAN.

She is vibrant which most times is misconstrued for arrogance. Her mother is like a mirror to her, while her father is the first symbol of manhood she grows up to know. So don’t blame her when she raises the bar so high.

You may think she is naive, but really the society is not giving her room to express herself. Love most times is not fair to her, the men around her are just ready to dominate her mind, control her thoughts and consume her body to the last drop. Every step she takes has different meaning to different people. So much is expected of her, while little most times is given to her.

If left to be who she really wants to be, she might conquer the world, maybe that is why they fear and shiver at her freedom. Beauty is something she possesses in its true definition but confidence is what keeps begging for true expression. Her culture thought her to stay back and just watch things unfold right under her nose. I fear for her future, i shed tears for the way she is been brought up under this selfish and stereotypical world of her religion, culture, tribe, ethnicity and environment.

She loves independence but her wings gets cut and clipped so that she can remain dependent on a pseudopic energy and hope. A true breed of the black race, her skin says it all, look deep into her eyes and all the doubts in your heart will be cleared.

Right from when she was a little girl her existence is under the radar, some want to steal her innocence, some just want to make her see the bitter side of love, few give her the chance, while those that claim to protect and defend her end up turning against her. That don’t know that she is an asset, if her true value was known and appreciated, she is the epitome of strength, if not judged by her feminine structure, she is more than just a sex symbol, if truly the worth of her humanness is totally and patiently earnest.

From afar she looks so happy and fulfilled, but right across that shield and fence of a beautiful but superficial expression, she is soaked in her own tears. She cries in silence and takes the pain in her heart to produce joy so that the world around her will feel or know no pain. Regardless of her she feels, she wants everyone around her to be happy.

She gives more than she can afford and sadly gets nothing back in return; because she appears strong, they say something must be wrong. Violence in every form is what she gets from her society, her dignity most times is subdued just so she can get approved or given what she truly deserves. Why is this woman, lady, girl so not honoured, appreciated, respected and praised? Her freedom has been held to ransom, but the question is, for how long can it be held down?

When will they stop using her emotions against her, all i pray is for her dignity and pride to be restored back to the level and state that it should be.
